Living Arrangements
At Lehigh University, you will be staying in an on-campus housing residence hall. Leavitt and McConn House are 2 interlocking three story dormitory style buildings. Thornburg is a similar building adjacent to Leavitt and McConn. We will house Global Village Interns on two floors in each building. The floors have 11 double occupancy rooms; each intern will have an assigned roommate.
You will share a common bathroom on each floor. There is an industrial kitchen area in the ground floor of each building. The kitchens are furnished with microwave ovens, electrical stove/ovens, refrigerator and freezers. Pots, pans, and assortment of cooking utensils will be available for you use. Each residence hall also has a dining area and TV lounge area. These common areas in Thornburg are air-conditioned.
NOTE: One (1) set of Bed linens and two small towels is provided for the entire Global Village six week period. You will be responsible for washing these sheets. Clothing hangers are not provided, but can be purchased at a local store for a minimal cost.
Appliance Voltage
REMEMBER THAT THE UNITED STATES IS 110 VOLTS! IF YOUR HAIRDRYERS, CURLING IRONS, CLOTHES IRONS, LAPTOP COMPUTERS, ETC. ARE 220 VOLTS YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE AN ADAPTER OR CONVERTOR. Please contact Alicia at village@lehigh.edu if you have questions about this. We recommend that you purchase an inexpensive hairdryer and curling iron in the States for you use during the village.
Telephones
Each of you will have voice mail on your bedroom phone, where you can receive your incoming calls. Instructions are provided at orientation for the setup of voice mail. The website with these instructions is http://www.lehigh.edu/lts/. In order to call long distance and international outgoing calls it is necessary to purchase international calling cards. If you choose to purchase these cards before your arrival in the States, please be sure that they are able to be used here. International calling cards are available in local stores- within walking distance from your on-campus housing.
Fax Machine
You will be able to receive and send faxes from a machine located in the Global Village Main Office for business use only during Office Hours (8 am to 6 pm ). The number there is 610-758-6550.
