Tuition and additional expenses
Tuition: $6,500 (USD)
NOTE: Medical insurance, travel to and from the program, meals and personal needs are NOT covered as part of the program tuition. For approximate costs, see 'Additional Expenses' below.
Payment Deadlines:
- April 15, 2010: Deadline for receipt of your $2,000 (USD) deposit in order to secure your place in the 2009 Global Village
- June 1, 2010: Deadline for full payment of tuition in its entirety.
Payment Methods:
Please note that money transfers MUST be clearly marked with Global Village 2010 and the participant's name. After transfer is compelete a copy of your receipt must be emailed to village@lehigh.edu or faxed to (610) 758-6550.
Additional Expenses:
Six-week Estimated Budget: $800-$1200.
Note that this estimation will increase if you choose to dine out often and/or if you make weekend trips to surrounding cities such as New York City and Philadelphia.
Meals:
Meals are NOT included in your tuition cost. Moderately priced meals range from $5 to $15. Gratuity is not included, and is typically 15%. You can also buy groceries from a local market, which is within walking distance of the Lehigh University campus. You will have full kitchen facilities that you share with your fellow interns. If you have any special dietary needs, please notify our staff at village@lehigh.edu.
Laundry:
Automatic washers and dryers are available in a common facility attached to the dorms. Total cost to wash and dry one load is approximately $2.50. Dry cleaning is available within walking distance of the campus. Cost is approximately $5.00 per blouse/shirt and $10.00 per dress/ lightweight suit.
Tuxedo Rental:
Evening wear will be required for at least two events throughout the program. A suit for men is considered appropriate, but if the intern chooses to rent a tuxedo they may do so. Approximate rental cost is $55.00-$65.00.
Insurance:
You are required to have medical insurance during the 6 weeks of the Global Village. Coverage period is June 25 to August 7, 2010. You may purchase it through Lehigh University at a cost of approximately US $135 for the entire period of GV 2010. If you would like to pre-purchase medical insurance please send the completed form to Alicia and we will have a medical card ready for you at check-in. If you choose not to purchase this medical insurance, you must bring proof of private insurance to check-in. NOTE: Due to varying levels of insurance coverage while abroad, we STRONGLY recommend that you purchase insurance through Lehigh University.
