Arrival by Air

The airports listed below service the Lehigh Valley Area. When you are making your travel arrangements for Global Village 2008, please use this information to help you. If you have any questions please contact Alicia at village@lehigh.edu and she will assist you further.

NOTE: IF YOU FLY INTO JFK , NY OR NEWARK , NJ AIRPORTS YOU MUST TAKE THE TRANSBRIDGE BUS LINES WHICH ONLY RUN FROM 8 AM TO 12 MIDNIGHT TO SOUTH SIDE BETHLEHEM TERMINAL.  VILLAGE TRANSPORTATION WILL PICK YOU UP AT SOUTH SIDE BETHLEHEM TERMINAL AND BRING YOU TO LEHIGH UNIVERSITY CAMPUS.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT FLY INTO PHILADELPHIA AIRPORT AS THERE IS NO DIRECT BUS SERVICE FROM THE PHL TO BETHLEHEM

EAST COAST ARRIVALS FROM NEWARK AIRPORT, NEW JERSEY (EWR)

We recommend using LVI as your point of US entry. If not possible we recommend Newark Intl Airport. Bus Service takes you to both the North and South Side Bethlehem Terminals. Do not get off until you reach the South Side Bethlehem, PA Terminal. For bus departure times please see the Transbridge Bus Service Website (www.transbridgebus.com) . It takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes for the bus to drive from Newark to Bethlehem, PA. Buses leave Newark Airport Terminal A,B,C- Bus Courtyard-Slot 10. These times are subject to change. We suggest that you check at the terminal when you arrive for the correct times. Approximate cost of a one-way ticket is $25.00(USD).

EAST COAST ARRIVAL FROM JFK KENNEDY AIRPORT, NEW YORK CITY (JFK)

If you plan to arrive at JFK airport, you can take a direct bus to Bethlehem, PA. Transbridge Bus Service only leaves three times during a day from this terminal. For those three bus departure times please see the Transbridge Bus Service Website (www.transbridgebus.com) .The bus leaves from International Arrivals Terminal, Gate B. The approximate one-way cost for a ticket is $40.00 (USD). You should check at the terminal when you arrive for the correct departure times. JFK bus departures are limited, so please check schedule before you arrive at JFK.

WEST COAST ARRIVALS

You will disembark and go through Customs at an International Airport such as Los Angeles, Chicago, or Detroit. From there you can get a direct flight to LVI (Bethlehem, PA), EWR (Newark, NJ) or  JFK (New York City). Please see those sections for arrival information.

TRAVEL FROM LEHIGH VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LVI)

Since there are no direct buses from LVI into Bethlehem, we advise you let us know your arrival time well in advance, so that we can plan to have Village Transportation System pick you up at LVI airport with Lehigh University Transportation. If you need to reserve a taxi-Lehigh Valley Taxi (610)-867-6000 or Quick Taxi Service (610-) 434-8132. You will need to tell the Taxi driver Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. The residence hall is called Leavitt and McConn House, Buildings #59 and #60.

FROM PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PHL)

There are NO DIRECT BUSES from the Philadelphia Airport to Bethlehem. If you are flying into the Philadelphia International Airport take the R-1 train to the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. From the 30th Street Station take a bus from Bieber Tours or Greyhound to the South Side Bethlehem Terminal or the Bethlehem Industrial Drive Terminal, contact Alicia regarding the Village transportation system pick up from this terminal. We recommend that you do NOT travel to this airport if possible.

ARRIVAL AT SOUTH SIDE BETHLEHEM BUS TERMINAL

Be sure to get the bus to South Side Bethlehem Terminal . It is located just a few minutes from the Lehigh Campus. By notifying us of your travel arrangements we can try to have a Lehigh University van waiting for your arrival to bring you the remaining distance onto campus. In order to do this we need advance travel details given to Alicia at village@lehigh.edu. If you arrive and there is no van waiting, please call (610)-758-4440 (GV Phone) or GV Emergency Phone 610-392-2389 from the bus station.
