Customization

The Global Village provides an experience unique to each participant. First you develop a set of goals, then you and your personal guide select from the many options to customize your experience to work toward these objectives.

Schedule
With so many choices and variables, your Global Village experience is unique. Our learningperience is customized based on the courses you select, the executives you choose to meet, and the trips you elect to attend. Each year the program offers innovative consulting projects, and adds new executives, facilitators and courses to the curriculum. The team dynamics add a cross-cultural component to each of your learning experiences.

Cultural Understanding
Your colleagues will be interns from different academic majors, professions, countries, and cultures - a picture of diversity. You are encouraged to bring a formal dress costume from your culture, as well as anecdotes, songs, poems, and other evidence of your heritage. You might also bring music or films about your country or region on CD-ROM, audio tage, or DVD-VHS video. The Global Village will have many learning experiences designed to share, celebrate, and understand the value of international diversity.

To encourage social interaction across cultural barriers and enhance their multicultural experience, interns share a room in on-campus, dormitory housing. The dormitory provides, a family-style common kitchen, living rooms, and dining area.

Guides
To help you to weigh your choices and to optimize your time at the Global Village, the Iacocca Institute will assign each accepted applicant a personal guide. Selected from the Iacocca Institute's staff and accomplished professionals, guides work with you to define your individual set of learning experiences before you arrive at Lehigh University and throughout the duration of the program; help you to intergrate the new perspectives, experiences, and ideas into your present skills, practices and ablities while you are here and when you return; and encourage you to reach your goals both in the short and long term.
