Enhancing one's strategic skill set begins with identifying our own areas for improvement. Iacocca Institute Professional Education recognizes that this may be a challenge for individuals and is providing new skill measurement tools through the Assessment Center for Professional Development launching in the Fall of 2007. An assessment simulation tool and a 360 assessment tool will provide enrollees the means to shore up the current state of their strategic skills such as decision-making, team building, organization, communication and leadership initiative. This opportunity provides individuals and their colleagues the first steps to enhance their strategic skill set.

Once aware of skill deficiencies, professionals seek opportunities to train and educate themselves with the knowledge that will allow them to improve, enhance and grow in their careers. Iacocca Institute Professional Education has designed several open-enrollment seminars focused on skill enhancement that may be applied in follow up to our assessment center or simply on an ala carte basis. Our Fall 2007 seminar programs include:

Teamwork: Working Together for Results with instructor Mary Connors on October 16, 2007. Focused on groups of people driving business success, this seminar aligns people and purpose and teaches attendees to design an appropriate team structure, mechanisms for communication, efficient means of collaboration and a ‘spirit d'corp.

Effective Decision Making with Andrew Longman on October 18th , 2007 teaches the process for rational decision-making by using factual information. Participants learn to clarify the purpose of decisions in order to develop more effective decision criteria. The program looks at positive outcomes and potential risks as well.

Optimal Organization and Time Management Skills with industry specialist Cindy Orsini Smith on November 1st , 2007 provides a fundamental look at how one can organization their time and tasks for priorities, purpose, effective responsiveness and multi-tasking.

Developing Leadership Effectiveness with consultant Sue Green on November 6th and 7th , 2007 keys off of leadership skills that provide personal efficiency and methods for effectiveness in workplace tasks and relationships. Innate values are discussed and actions that lead to meaningful results are explored.

Supply Chain Finance: Best Practices and Applications, with industry experts and world known authors Sam Weaver and Bob Trent on November 13th and 14th , 2007, is emerging as the next frontier that manufacturers and retailers are focusing on to gain advantage over their competitors. This program bridges the gap that is often found between supply chain, operations and finance. Financial and operational improvement is emphasized throughout the course.

Finance and Accounting for the Non-Financial Professional with Sam Weaver on January 9th and 10th , 2008 has been recognized as one of our most popular and well-received seminars. The instructor is clear and easy to follow and teaches participants to understand and to discuss the performance of a business by learning to interpret the numbers found in the accounting and financial statements. Financial analysis, financial decision making, capital investment and cost reduction methods are all explored.
